JIA Option Map

Need help to manage your Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) symptoms such as pain, fatigue, stiffness and stress? The JIA Option Map could help! It is a web application that helps teens and young adults with juvenile arthritis and their parents assess their symptoms and get reliable information about many different ways to manage symptoms based on what young people prefer.

Treatment options shown in the JIA Option Map include:

  • splints and orthotics including wrist splints, foot orthotics and mouth guards
  • physical treatments including physical therapy, occupational therapy, massage, acupuncture and chiropractic
  • physical activities including yoga, Pilates and stretching
  • psycho-educational approaches including distraction, relaxation, mindfulness, educational websites and cognitive behavioural therapy
  • medication and other products including non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, acetaminophen and cannabis products and
  • nutrition including diets, vitamin D and fish oil.

The app also gives practical tips to help participate in everyday activities.
